Since today is International Women’s Day, we would like to highlight one of our star team members.
Chef Ann, as she’s affectionately known, could not speak a word of English upon joining our family in late 2008, though with much gusto and language effort, she became ready to assist Black Ginger’s Chef Piak in running our “Moo’s Kitchen” Thai Cooking Classes.
Fast forward to 2012 and Chef Ann delights in escorting our guests to the local markets to purchase the ingredients necessary for the classes and has put her own joy and personality into making this one of the highlight experiences of a stay at The Slate.
From the heart of Phuket Province, Arunrat Chaipakdee (Chef Ann) began cooking from an early age raising her three daughters to appreciate good quality fresh food. “I love to see our guests in the market asking about all the different fruits and vegetables that they have never seen before, and then to watch them as they cook and then eat their own creations”, says Chef Ann with her customary beaming smile.
Today Moo’s kitchen is developing its “Little Chef” programme where all the family can learn the secrets of Thai culinary cuisine, as well as offering our two normal Thai Cooking Courses.
