Phuket is bidding for The Specialised Expo 2028 under the inspirational theme "Future of Life: Living in Harmony, Sharing Prosperity", scheduled for March - June 2028, aiming to bring Thailand and Phuket into world-class health tourism cities and medical hubs.

The Slate is delighted to have been selected as one of the venues to host and welcome the Executive Committee of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) during the visit to Thailand on 26 - 29 July 2022 to assess the bid to organise the Expo 2028 – Phuket, Thailand.

The arrangement started with a discussion session in the inspiring meeting environment of our Jomon Pavillion, followed by an impressive evening gathering at our Michelin-listed Black Ginger Restaurant.

A morning session of laughter yoga was offered at Rebar, which is surrounded by sublime nature and exciting artful elements.

Through the give-back to nature activity, all participants had a moment to embrace the beauty of Nai Yang Beach to release sea turtles back into their natural habitat.

To demonstrate that Phuket is ready to become a medical tourism hub, personal consultations with traditional Thai doctors were provided at Shades Gallery, our curated, collaborative art space. This consultation session allowed the committee to experience the science of traditional Thai treatment from personal details such as date of birth and habits, which will help to adjust routine lifestyle for better personal wellness. 

Phuket is a perfect setting for all kinds of activities and is capable of hosting mega-scale events. Throughout this journey to make Phuket Expo 2028 a reality, we will put all our efforts into encouraging and supporting the project.
